The Grape Chic Shoe & Wine Pairing Pt. 3
Back by popular demand…The Grape Chic Shoe & Wine Pairing! I took a poll on Instagram and found that 100% of the participants wanted more, so I hope I don’t disappoint! I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to find any more connections between my two collections, but I realized that it doesn’t always have to be about color, texture and artisan choices; but maybe a feeling or a memory. Maybe it’s the way they make me feel, or what they mean to me. I was surprised I still had enough heels to do this, but here we are! I hope you enjoy!
Gianvito Rossi & Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona Brunello di Montalcino 2012
Plush, full of berries and a hint of spice, these Italian Gianvito heels are the perfect match for this Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona Brunello di Montalcino. The complexity contributes to their character, so both will age beautifully. I can wear these heels this weekend or in 20 years and that definitely goes for the wine as well. When I drink Brunello (and wear these shoes for that matter), I feel sexy and sophisticated. It reminds me that I work really hard, and every now and again, I deserve to treat myself.
Manolo Blahnik & Veuve Cliquot Brut Rosé 2008
Nothing screams special occasion like these Manolo’s matched with this bottle of Veuve Cliquot Brut Rosé! Vibrant, complex, and just plain beautiful, this combination is sure to stun the crowds. If you’re a big Sex and The City fan like I am, you know that this model shoe is used to seal Big and Carrie’s engagement and the end of the first movie (just in a different color). As previously mentioned in Pt. 2, Veuve seems to be everywhere chic NYC, so it’s no surprise these two would walk down Bond St. hand in hand.
Valentino & López de Heredia Viña Tondonia 2005
Sleek, intricate, and ready to whisk you away to a chic tapas bar, I couldn’t think of a better wine to enjoy while wearing these Valentino’s than this Reserva from López de Heredia Viña Tondonia. These heels go with virtually everything in my closet, and have you ever noticed how an incredible Rioja pairs with a broad range of dishes from asparagus to cheese & jamon? My favorite kinds of date nights are the ones where we discuss new travel plans to Spain. These two always stir up feelings of passion and wanderlust.
Gianvito Rossi & Kenwood Vineyards Six Ridges Sauvignon Blanc
Whether it’s at happy hour or a Saturday afternoon rooftop affair, these Gianvito pumps are as versatile as this Sauvignon Blanc from Kenwood Vineyards. Cool and bright, the acidity in this wine comes from the chilly nights found within the Sonoma Coast appellation. Although the wine is refreshing, there is also a moment of richness like the beautiful purple suede used for the shoe. Best when meeting friends at a happening downtown oyster house or making memories at a family party.
