The Top 7 Reasons To Have a Vineyard Wedding

Updated: Oct 11, 2018

Freshly engaged after the holidays and on the hunt for a wedding venue? Then keep reading on because I’m about to give you 7 MAJOR reasons to have a vineyard wedding. In September 2016 I married my best friend in front of all our friends & family smack dab in the middle of a vineyard. It was honestly the best day of my life…for more reasons than just the obvious. Part of what made the day so special was the venue itself...the vineyard. Below are the top 7 reasons why YOU should also get married on a vineyard.

1. The Wedding Backdrop

There are few things more beautiful than endless vines with full bunches of grapes. If you are able to find a vineyard on a lake…well that’s just a bonus! Your guests will swoon over the sight, and your photos, well; they’ll speak for themselves.

2. It’s the Perfect Opportunity to Have a Wine Ceremony

Having a Wine Ceremony was something my husband and I were really excited to do. I held a glass white wine, which represented all of who I was and wanted to be, and he held a glass of red wine which represented all of him and who he wanted to be. By the end of it we mixed the two wines together as a symbol of our lives coming together and each took a sip out of the joint glass. I was accepting all of him and he was accepting all of me…and we got to drink while we were standing in front of everyone. It was a win/win.

3. It’s Romantic

There’s something about the charm of a vineyard that makes it especially romantic. The rustic vibes, warm breezes, and of course the amazing wine makes it the perfect venue for the most poetic day of your life. Pro tip: catching some photos in the cellar make for the ultimate romantic shot!

4. Accessorizing With Wine is Fun & Easy

It can be very overwhelming finding or creating the right décor for your big day. A great bonus to getting married on a vineyard is that there are so many cute ways to decorate using wine accessories. Wine corks for table number holders, corkscrews as wedding favors, and a mini wine barrel cardholder are just a few easy and fun ideas you can explore!

5. You Can Offer Several Different Varietals

As wine lovers it was important that we could offer several different varietals throughout the evening. Many weddings have 1 white and 1 red, but ours had 2 whites, 1 rosé and 3 reds! As the courses changed, I felt the wine should too (if people wanted them to of course). We also wanted to “showcase” our venue and share as much as possible with our friends and family. So many of our friends ended up taking CASES of wine home because they loved it so much!

6. Your Bridal Party/Friends Will LOVE IT

Not only is it acceptable to drink wine all day at a vineyard, but it’s more than acceptable to drink it throughout the ceremony as well! Say goodbye to boring, drawn out vows…we’re drinking! If you’re like me you probably also have a lot of friends that are first time parents, or haven’t got a break from work in a long time. Having a vineyard wedding can act like a “mini-vaca” and a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Your friends will thank you!

7. Because everything is Just Better on a Vineyard
